ASI History

A Modern Company with Deep Roots in the Machine Tool Industry

Automation Solutions, Inc. opened in 1992
with a bright, energetic team of machine tool professionals who were the former direct sales staff in the Mid-Atlantic region for Kearney & Trecker and Warner & Swasey, historical pioneers in the American machine tool industry. Giddings & Lewis acquired and closed those companies in 1991, presenting KT-Swasey’s Scott Braunschweig with the opportunity to form a new dealership.  Scott founded ASI and promptly secured representation for prominent product lines such as Makino and Okamoto. ASI added more lines through the mid-90’s, along with service capability and applications engineering to provide comprehensive, value-added customer support.

Growing to Meet the Needs of Our Customers

ASI acquired Machinery Associates, Inc. (Narberth, Pennsylvania) in 2002, combining the two companies to form one of the regions’ largest machine tool dealerships. Machinery Associates was a leading dealer in the region since 1948, representing major builders including Daewoo (Doosan Infracore), CINCINNATI Incorporated and Giddings & Lewis.  ASI and Machinery Associates were an ideal match, providing greater synergy and energy through consolidation.   ASI’s expanded scope, comprehensive product offering and full service capabilities encompass all facets of metal cutting, fabrication and automation, and our talented staff offers unrivaled knowledge and expertise with over 300 years of combined experience.

ASI now represents the area’s most complete and prestigious line-up of high-technology machine tools for metal cutting and fabrication from industry leaders including Makino, Dalian Machine Tool Group, Hermle, INDEX-Traub, Okamoto, Cinetic Landis, WFL Millturn, CINCINNATI Incorporated, Quickmill, TECHNI Waterjet, and others.  We provide full automation capability through our representation of Automation Design Engineering, including Fanuc robotics, material handling, special machinery, secondary operations, inspection, assembly, etc.  Plus, we offer a wide array of tooling and accessories to complement our machine tool product lines. ASI’s six talented sales professionals provide extensive coverage of the Mid-Atlantic region. (See Territory and Sales Team) Our support staff provides exceptional customer service, quick response and highly skilled technical support.  We provide expert applications engineering support including machine demonstrations, test cuts, process improvement consultation, time studies, part programming, tool & fixture design, complete turnkeys, CNC communications, operator & programmer training.  We employ three factory-trained service engineers with access to additional experienced sub-contract technicians, machine re-builders, control retrofitters, riggers, shippers, relocation specialists, OEM parts, and used equipment dealers to provide “one-stop shopping” for all our customers’ needs.  (See Technical Support)

Technical Center Facility

ASI's Tech Center Opened in 2005

ASI expanded its scope and capability once again in 2005 by the opening a modern and impressive Technical Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  A variety of machine tools are on display for demonstrations and test cuts, and open houses, educational seminars and workshops are scheduled throughout the year.  (See Tech Center and News & Events)
